What we offer: Standard conversion of books to one or more formats as required by you. We retain (unless restricted by the format) all your formatting, image placement, etc., and includes all metadata embedded where required.

Available formats:PDF ebook, MOBI (Kindle), ePub. Essentially those are the “must-have” formats that cover over 90% of the demand for ebooks. There are other formats, like HTML, LIT, PDB, PRC and we can convert to those if you have a need for them.

Textbook-style books and/or books with multiple images/illustrations: We convert textbooks and books with multiple images, however these require more work than fiction-style books which are all text and regular formatting. We need to quote these projects on a book-by-book basis, since it depends on the content and the amount of work needed. If you have a textbook-style book or one with multiple images, please email for a quote – jim (at) jimandzetta.com

Converting from PDF: We provide PDF-to-text doc services. Combine this with eBook conversion to give you multiple eBook formats from a submitted PDF. Again, because of extra work involved email for a quote – jim (at) jimandzetta.com. Typically the cost for converting from a PDF or other source will be between $100.00 and $200.00, but we do need to review the source file first in order to give a firm quote.

Back-Catalogue: If you have a back-catalogue that you need converted, please email us for a fixed-price quote.

Rights: This is important. We will only provide this service to the company or person who holds the appropriate rights to the work being compiled/converted. For example, if you have bought a book in PDF format and want us to convert that to another format for you, sorry, but you are out of luck. However, if you are a publisher or author who has the digital rights to the book you are publishing, then we can provide this service for you.

What next? All we need from you is a clean, formatted RTF or Word file, plus any image files used in your book – including the cover, or a PDF or HTML file if that is your only source file. We do the rest. If you don’t have a formatted file (text laid out as you want it to appear) we can do that for you at an additional charge, please enquire first.

Please contact jim (at) jimandzetta.com with your requirements, and we’ll get to work for you!

TYPESETTING/LAYOUT: We will take your file and prepare it for printing, including design elements, page layouts, headers, footers, margins, font and font size etc., and in line with any specific file requirements by your printer of choice. We have provided files to the standards expected by the likes of Lightning Source, Createspace, Lulu, Bang, and others including independent printers.

We do reserve the right to refuse any manuscript that it is not in a reasonable condition. What that means is a condition where we cannot ascertain, for example, where paragraph or page breaks should be, or if there is some missing information vital to a published book (copyright data, etc.). We will return the manuscript without charge if that’s the case for revision and resubmission.

Disclaimer: We are not responsible for any grammatical or editing errors that pre-exist in any file that is sent to us. We can only typeset what you send us. While we may bring to your attention anything obvious that we see, you are responsible for the editing and grammatical content of the text prior to sending it for typesetting.

PRICING: Typesetting/print file preparation is $1.15 per 1000 words. What you will get is a fixed quote, prior to work starting, so you know what your job is going to cost and you don’t get any nasty surprises!

COVER DESIGN/PRINT TEMPLATES: We can provide complete cover design for print books from $125.00, or provide print cover templates using existing suitable cover art/images from $60.00

Professional editing does more than correct errors but helps present your manuscript in a “best condition” state, which is appreciated by agents, editors, and publishers. By having your manuscript professionally edited prior to submission, your work will stand out from the rest and will be considered favourably because it will generally require less work to make it ready for publication.

Some authors believe plot is more important than character development and they can write perfectly entertaining, plot-driven stories that sell. Many authors have achieved success this way.

However, I believe stories should be character driven. If it wasn’t for a character behaving a certain way in a certain situation, there would be no story. As your editor, I will point out places and areas where more character development is required.

For example: A man and a woman are stranded in an elevator. So what? What makes the story unique? Maybe one is a cannibal? Or maybe they discover they are siblings after having spent their lives apart in foster care. OK…so what? This is where having a fully developed character comes into play because their behaviour will help determine what happens next.

I also believe in honest, constructive criticism, not destructive criticism.
